Al-Khelaïfi gets fired up after winning the Champions League following many failures: 'Madrid...'
The controversial words with which Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has expressed his excitement after winning the Champions League
It's well known that PSG, for years, kept the fervent desire to win the Champions League. Spending billions of euros to achieve this goal, PSG has finally done it. Authoritatively surpassing Inter Milan, PSG has lifted the first Champions League in their entire history.
This caused Nasser Al-Khelaïfi, the club's president, to burst with emotion and make some controversial statements. "We beat Madrid, just like Barça, Liverpool, and City...we're on the same level," were his words. These statements are quite arrogant because it's impossible for PSG to be on the same level as Real Madrid.

After several historic failures, PSG can't be compared to Real Madrid, which is the top winner of this competition. Al-Khelaïfi's words show that, clearly, his emotion greatly clouded his perception of PSG.
Nasser Al-Khelaïfi's statement
Having led PSG for more than a decade, Nasser Al-Khelaïfi has always had a rather questionable administration. Signing several stars to win the Champions League, PSG always left the competition humiliated. Even when they played the final in 2020, PSG couldn't do anything against Bayern Munich.
Although their Champions League win is historic, PSG still has a long way to go to be compared to Real Madrid. Having been humiliated by Real Madrid themselves in the round of 16 in 2022, it's clear that PSG isn't on the same level as the team.

Al-Khelaïfi's statements, besides showing his emotion, were a clear compliment to Ligue 1. Considering that Ligue 1 is on the same level as the best leagues in Europe, it seems that Al-Khelaïfi has forgotten the failures of French clubs.
The excitement over the Champions League
Even though Al-Khelaïfi's joy over winning the Champions is understandable, PSG's president must be more careful with his words. One Champions League can't be compared to the 15 Champions Leagues held by the best club in history: Real Madrid.
