At almost 40 years old, the extension of his stay in Bernabéu changing room depends entirely on him once again. Information that has emerged in recent days suggests that the club's executives will await his decision: if he wishes to stay until mid-2026, he will have an offer. Otherwise, he will be allowed to leave without any problem after an exit befitting his sports career.

The successes achieved by Luka Modric with the Real Madrid jersey have caught the attention of even former Meringue players. One of the latest to speak about the Balkan midfielder is Fabio Cannavaro. The Italian defender confesses that  "sometimes I congratulate Luka Modric on Instagram because he plays for Real Madrid, a team I support".

This declaration of Madridismo by the former white central defender has taken everyone by surprise. Especially since he decided to remain connected to professional soccer as a coach: he is currently in charge of the first team of Dinamo Zagreb. For a time, in that Croatian city, there was hope of having his services again if he didn't renew with Real Madrid.

That option seems to be completely out of consideration for a Luka Modric whose true goal is the World Cup in the United States, to be held in the 2026 summer. The only way to lead Croatia once more is to stay at Real Madrid, where he will continue his elite physical and sports preparation... adding many minutes by the end of the season.

Fabio Cannavaro makes it clear that  "Luka is a fantastic player and a better person who deserves everything he has achieved". This declaration of intentions regarding Luka Modric and Real Madrid is a pleasant surprise that no one expected from the Valdebebas offices, but it is equally well received.

Once again, it's demonstrated that Real Madrid leaves a mark on all the players who once wore the white jersey. Fabio Cannavaro's addition to an already extensive list happens as quickly as unexpectedly and on account of a  legend: Luka Modric.
