Iturralde's rant against Real Madrid for the letter to the RFEF: 'It's a...'

Iturralde González spoke about the letter that Real Madrid sent to the RFEF regarding the refereeing

Eduardo Iturralde González, former Spanish referee who officiated Primera División matches from 1995 to 2012, spoke about Real Madrid's letter.

Iturralde González has spoken on Cadena SER about the strong letter sent by Real Madrid to the RFEF. The letter refers to the "scandalous performance of VAR refereeing" during the match against RCD Espanyol.

Real Madrid, which on its website describes as a "global scandal" the fact that the harsh tackle on Mbappé was not penalized with a red card. Additionally, the Madrid club delivers its final criticism and states that "it is the culmination of a discredited refereeing system".

What does Iturralde González think?

Meanwhile, Iturralde González spoke about Real Madrid's letter on 'El Larguero' of Cadena SER. The former referee, on the program presented by Manu Carreño, described the Madrid team's letter as "opportunistic".

"Now that we live in the era of 'Fake News'... with many 'Fake News' and a lot of dirtying the field", the former referee comments. Additionally, Iturralde highlights that the letter is addressed to the members and that it will not fix anything in the future.

"It is a letter for their members. It is not a letter to fix anything and it is not a letter that contributes anything to refereeing or football", he explained.

"Real Madrid's letter is based on falsehoods and half-truths", concluded Iturralde González.

What has been the RFEF's reply to Real Madrid?

On the other hand, the RFEF replied within a few hours to Real Madrid. "We regret the tone and seriousness of the accusations that question the honorability of the refereeing bodies", they comment from the mentioned organization.

"We reiterate our commitment to transparency and the constant improvement of our competitions. We trust that the collaboration of the clubs, with a constructive spirit, will contribute to continue strengthening Spanish football", they conclude from the RFEF.

However, Real Madrid is not at all happy with the referees' work in recent times. They believe that the Madrid club has lost quite a few titles and matches due to the poor performances of those who officiate the game.
