Juanma Castaño Enraged by the Canceled Penalty on Julián Álvarez: 'If it Happens the Other Way Around'
The journalist has focused on Real Madrid and the disallowed penalty
At Atlético de Madrid, they continue trying to make excuses for their elimination in the Champions League. They believe they were better than Real Madrid throughout the entire tie. They can't explain what could have happened for the "merengues" to be the ones in the quarter-finals.
The only excuse they have found is the canceled penalty on Julián Álvarez during the shootout. The Argentine hit the ball twice, which is illegal, and the rules state that it must be canceled. The VAR saw it, informed the referee, and it didn't count on the scoreboard.

Up to that point, everything was normal, but some are trying to create a controversy to harm Real Madrid. Perhaps the most striking in that sense was the comment by Juanma Castaño. During the post-match discussion on Partidazo de Cope, he left a controversial statement on the matter.
"Let's be honest, if this happened to Real Madrid..." he began saying without wanting to finish the sentence. Pedro Martín tried to indicate what would have happened: "Well, we'd be the same." But Juanma concluded by saying that "no, no, no, I'll explain, the Super League starts tomorrow morning and it's the first match."
Atlético's Protests Led by Simeone Before the Press
The first to speak out and create a spectacle was Simeone himself before the press after the match. The Argentine coach focused on Julián's penalty, claiming he hadn't seen the double hit. He centered his discourse on that without wanting to see beyond.

Many have tried to hide Simeone's handball from Vinícius's cross that wasn't called as a penalty. Nor Correa's stomp inside the area that could have avoided extra time. They have preferred to focus on a situation that was officiated according to the rules.
The only one who wanted to focus on everything was Siro López, who did respond to Juanma Castaño for his comment. "If Giuliano's was done by Madrid, imagine the uproar..." he assured. Meanwhile, Nacho Peña added that "in Europe, there is no figure like Negreira, that's why Madrid doesn't distrust corrupt refereeing."
