The Reason Why Real Madrid Won't Play the Champions League Game in Brest

UEFA has decided that Francis-Le Blé Stadium doesn't meet the necessary conditions for a game in the top European competition

Real Madrid will close the Champions League group stage by facing Stade Brestois. However, the game won't be played at the Francis-Le Blé stadium, home of the French club.

UEFA has decided that this venue doesn't meet the necessary conditions to host a game of the top European competition. After analyzing the facilities, the organization led by Aleksander Ceferin chose to reject it as a venue.

Change of venue: from Francis-Le Blé to Stade de Roudourou

In this situation, Stade Brestois had to look for an alternative. Finally, they agreed with Guingamp to use their stadium, Stade de Roudourou, as the venue for the Champions games.

This change wasn't a hasty decision. Brestois's management had already considered this possibility. Stade de Roudourou is located less than 100 kilometers (62 miles) from Francis-Le Blé, which facilitates the travel for fans.

A key game for both teams

Despite not playing at home, Stade Brestois arrives with strength. The French team has been one of the surprises of the Champions League. They currently hold the 13th position, above Real Madrid.

The French team needs a victory to secure their passage to the round of 16. Meanwhile, Real Madrid seeks to improve their position in the standings, although they have already secured their qualification to the round of 32.

Real Madrid, on high alert

Stade Brestois has proven to be a tough opponent. Their excellent campaign in Ligue 1, where they finished third, allowed them to reach this renewed Champions League. Additionally, they have maintained solid performance against high-level teams.

For Carlo Ancelotti's team, it won't be an easy match. Stade Brestois has a dedicated fan base that, despite the change of stadium, will support their team in a historic duel.

Real Madrid must stay focused if they want to end the group stage with a victory. The mission won't be easy, but it's key to improving their outlook for the next round.
