Shocking statements by Medina Cantalejo about the VAR audios that aren't shown

The president of the CTA responds to the letter sent by Real Madrid last Monday

Real Madrid seems to have said "enough" after the disastrous refereeing they suffered, in their opinion, in the match against Espanyol. So much so that the white entity has decided to send a  public letter to the Higher Sports Council and the president of RFEF to request the implementation of several measures. One of the most striking is accessing the communication audios between the field referee and the VAR referee in the most controversial plays of the match.

This proposal has sparked a  significant controversy and much debate on social media in the last two days. Medina Cantalejo, in his latest interview on "El Cafelito," has issued a clear warning to the white club: "they can go to our locker rooms and we'll see each other there". The president of the CTA seems to offer some resistance to handing over those audios to Real Madrid because "now it's a complicated situation".

In this context, "I want the situation to calm down a bit. From there, we have no problem with any team coming, respectfully, to talk to us". Medina Cantalejo insists on this idea, asked by Josep Pedrerol if Real Madrid has been respectful, referring to the public letter from the entity presided over by Florentino Pérez.

"I think that at this moment the waters are so turbulent that the best thing for everyone is to calm down and if at some point we can sit down to talk...", ventures Medina Cantalejo. The president of the CTA also assures that  "many things need to be studied" before granting access to those audios because "a document with many situations has been written and sent". These refereeing errors against Real Madrid, denounced by the white club through that public letter, mean that "what we have to do is analyze it and that's it".

Immediate replys

In this context, Medina Cantalejo makes it clear that "any team" could, "in a normal situation," access the audios between the field referee and the VAR referee without problems. "A normal situation is when a team calls you, when they have some kind of complaint because they feel... When that moment comes, they talk to us, we sit down".

The president of the CTA reveals that "we first talk in my office, in a completely normal way". After that meeting, the former referee points out, "if everything flows politely, we sit down to see whatever needs to be seen"... in a clear reference to the reviews of the audios of the communications between the field referee and the VAR referee in a match.

These words from Medina Cantalejo will add more strength to the debate initiated by the public letter revealed by Real Madrid last Monday. The intense discussions created around the refereeing of Muñiz Ruiz and Iglesias Villanueva have caused those two referees to end up in the "fridge" for the Copa del Rey quarterfinals. Likewise, the referee appointments for the next two matches of the white club haven't pleased Madridists much either.

For now, Real Madrid doesn't have access to the audios requested in their letter, a situation that Medina Cantalejo clearly solves in his interview on "El Cafelito". The president of the CTA assures that he doesn't prevent anyone from seeing those communications, but "any team" must do it "in a normal situation" that wouldn't have been met now.
