From Signing With Madrid to Staying in the Premier Against All Odds, Clear Future

Jarrad Branthwaite, Ancelotti's favorite center-back, has decided to stay at Everton after the high release clause

Jarrad Branthwaite Will Stay at Everton. Real Madrid thus loses one of its options to strengthen the defense.

The English center-back, 22 years old, was on the radar of the white club. Carlo Ancelotti considered him a serious option to reinforce the backline.

Real Madrid Hasn't Signed a Center-Back Since 2022. Injuries to Alaba and Militão have complicated the season. Nacho has also left the team, leaving a gap in the squad.

Castello Lukeba, with a 90 million euro clause at RB Leipzig, is an alternative. Virgil van Dijk is also on the list, as his contract with Liverpool ends in June.

Branthwaite was Ancelotti's favorite option. However, Everton has priced his departure at 75 million euros. A figure that Madrid considers excessive.

Ancelotti Already Knows Him

The Italian coach managed Everton when they signed Branthwaite in 2020. He saw him debut and follow his progression. After a loan at PSV, the defender established himself in the Premier League.

Manchester United tried to sign him last summer. They made two offers, but Everton rejected both.

Branthwaite is one of the great hopes of the English national team. He was close to making the list for Euro 2024. In the short term, his future seems to remain in the Premier League.

Real Madrid, meanwhile, will have to keep looking for reinforcements. The sports management is already working on other options for the defense for the 2025-26 season.
