Xabi Alonso's pupils played a training match at Valdebebas
Real Madrid played its first preseason match under Xabi Alonso's orders on the morning of Friday, August 8. It did so against CD Leganés in a behind-closed-doors match where secrecy prevailed until the very last moment. In fact, neither club reported on the match on their social media.
However, as time went by, it became known that Real Madrid managed to defeat CD Leganés 4-1. The goals were scored by Dean Huijsen, Éder Militao, Brahim Díaz, and Thiago Pitarch. The young prodigy from La Fábrica, who's already been training with the first team for a few days, scored thanks to an assist from Kylian Mbappé.

Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso fielded a very first-choice starting eleven, although there were a few changes: Courtois; Carvajal, Huijsen, Asencio, Carreras; Valverde, Ceballos, Brahim; Mbappé, Vinicius, and Gonzalo.
Real Madrid had to come back against CD Leganés
The match began with a goal from the visiting side. The goal was scored by Sule, one of CD Leganés's youth players who had the opportunity to play in Valdebebas.
However, Real Madrid began to improve its play and before halftime the scoreboard already showed a 2-1 lead for Xabi Alonso's side.
As the second half progressed, Real Madrid increased its intensity and eventually scored two more goals. In summary, the goals were scored by Dean Huijsen, Brahim Díaz, Thiago Pitarch, and Éder Militao, who reportedly scored from his own half.
New faces at Real Madrid
The match against CD Leganés marked Álvaro Carreras's debut in a Real Madrid jersey. In addition, as can be seen in the images published by the "pepinero" club, Dani Carvajal was able to start the match.

Franco Mastantuono couldn't make his debut with Real Madrid, as he's still waiting to reach the age of majority. Starting August 14, the Argentine player will be under Xabi Alonso's orders.
Daniel Yáñez and Thiago Pitarch did take part, with Pitarch wearing the number "45" and scoring one of the four goals. Gonzalo García was also present, although the club didn't want to reveal the number he'll wear for the upcoming season.
