Alphonso Davies Ruled Out, but Florentino Plans to Transfer a Talented Star Player
Real Madrid doesn't leave the left wing market after the fiasco of the 'Davies case'
One of Real Madrid's objectives for the 2025 summer transfer window was to acquire Alphonso Davies as a free agent. After many doubts expressed by the '19', Madrid's offer remained as it was initially. And the winger decided that the best course of action is to continue in the Allianz Arena changing room.
Since the white executives have learned of this decision, Davies's name no longer appears on the list of potential signings for the Madrid team. It also seems unlikely that they'll attempt his arrival again. Since he would have made it clear that he values having money much more than the opportunity to wear the Meringue jersey.
Given the situation, there are many doubts about the move that the board led by Florentino Pérez will make. The information published by Mario Cortegana a few days ago reveals that Madrid is not very interested in a player's transfer for that position right now. The sports management understands that Ancelotti has enough resources with the presence of Ferland Mendy and Fran García.
Despite everything, the journalist from The Athletic doesn't rule out any market survey or discussions around several names that could take Davies's place. One of the most striking is, without a doubt, Miguel Gutiérrez due to his exceptional contract conditions.
First name
For just eight million euros, this player trained at La Fábrica could return to Real Madrid to reinforce one of the most debated and 'punished' positions by injuries. But he's not the only one who would have entered Juni Calafat's radar: another former youth player, Theo Hernández, has taken the lead to be the next left-back.
His established role at AC Milan, after a brief stint with the first white team and Borussia Dortmund, has made him a reference. So much so that he's considered one of the best in his position at the continental level, elevated to the football elite of Serie A and rossoneri captain.
While it is true that his profile is very appealing in the Valdebebas offices, the possible conditions of his signing wouldn't be as favorable as those offered by Miguel Gutiérrez. Because Theo Hernández has a market value of 50 million euros, as well as a contract that ends in the summer of 2026.
With these data in mind, everything points to the white executives approaching Theo in the same way they did with Davies some time ago. However, they hope that this time there will be a different outcome... because the two left-backs in the team have contracts ending in 2027 and the room for maneuver is reduced.
