Ancelotti's Change That Has Surprised Everyone, Mbappé to the Bench With 2-1
The Italian has given his star and one of the most active players a rest, to give minutes to Endrick, despite the need to come back
Surprise at Villamarín. In the 75th minute, Carlo Ancelotti made an unexpected decision. He substituted Kylian Mbappé to bring on Endrick.
A change nobody expected, especially because Real Madrid was losing 2-1 against Betis.
Madrid Struck First
The match started in the best way for the white team. Mbappé threaded a great pass to Mendy, who assisted Brahim. The player from Málaga only had to push it in for 0-1 before the 10th minute.

The green-and-white team didn't give up. In the 33rd minute, Isco executed a perfect corner and Johnny Cardoso, unmarked, headed it in with ease to equalize the match. Defensive misalignment from Madrid and Courtois had no chance to prevent the goal.
Before halftime, in the 45+2', Cardoso had the chance for a double in another corner. His header was going straight to the net, but Courtois made a spectacular save to prevent the goal.
In the second half, Madrid suffered again. In the 54th minute, Rüdiger committed a penalty on Jesús Rodríguez. Isco took responsibility, tricked Courtois, and made it 2-1.
Ancelotti Surprises Everyone
With the team losing, logic suggested that Mbappé should stay on the field. However, Ancelotti made an unexpected decision: substituting him for Endrick in the 75th minute.

Many wonder if it was for tactical or physical reasons. The truth is that on Tuesday, Real Madrid faces Atlético de Madrid in the Champions League round of 16. Perhaps Ancelotti prefers to reserve his star for that key match.
