Ancelotti's List for the Supercopa Includes 3 Rewards, 1 Punishment, and the Surprise

Carlo Ancelotti announced the team list for the Spanish Supercopa. The Whites, who set off this afternoon to Saudi Arabia, will face RCD Mallorca. The game corresponding to the second semifinal will be next Thursday starting at 8 p.m.

The list includes, among other players, Vinícius. The Brazilian is waiting to learn about his sanction after what happened at Mestalla last Friday. Additionally, another notable name is David Alaba, who returns to a team list more than a year later.

The anticipated return of David Alaba

David Alaba is beginning to see the light at the end of the tunnel. The defender is already completing training sessions with the rest of his teammates, although his return won't happen in Saudi Arabia.

As confirmed by Ancelotti himself, his return is planned for the weekend of January 20th. Real Madrid will host UD Las Palmas, and Alaba could get minutes against the Canaries at Bernabéu.

From there, the coaching staff will evaluate the progress of a player who has been sidelined for a long time. The club wants to proceed cautiously to avoid a relapse that would complicate things much further. David Alaba suffered a very serious injury, and the recovery period, never easy, became more complicated than usual. 

The rest of the called-up names

Dani Carvajal and Éder Militão are the two expected absences in the team. Joining them is Jesús Vallejo, who continues to have physical discomfort, although everything still points to him seeking to solve his future.

 

Carlo Ancelotti is taking Fran González, Yáñez, Lorenzo, and Diego Aguado from the reserve team as a reward for their great work. Left out is Chema, who, along with the last two mentioned, had minutes against Deportiva Minera in the Cup.

Real Madrid will seek to win a trophy they already claimed last year. Los Blancos eliminated Atlético de Madrid in extra time of the semifinals and thrashed Barça in the final with three goals from Vinícius.
