The Anti-Fatigue Plan Developed by Real Madrid for the Club World Cup

This competition organized by FIFA in the United States will be a challenge for Real Madrid in more than one way

The 24/25 season has several added difficulties for Real Madrid. Besides the usual challenges of each soccer season, where the aim is to win all trophies to continue expanding Santiago Bernabéu's trophy cabinet. There are other unexpected complications.

One of them is the Club World Cup. While it's true that the Madrid entity has agreed to participate in this tournament organized by FIFA between June and July, the games' logistics are becoming a challenge. The complications of being in all the stadiums, scattered across the United States, have led clubs to start developing "anti-fatigue plans".

Because the distances that must be covered to face their rivals are long, with flights that can inevitably wear out Carlo Ancelotti's players. Especially after a season in which they've been subjected to a physical and competitive intensity that's leaving a myriad of injuries.

The travel demands that the Cup will place on all teams have led them to follow the same method they use during its pre-seasons. Without having a fixed base, the club believes that players are less exposed to the physical wear of so much travel.

Important difference

In this context, Madrid'll travel four days before their first match to the first city where they must play their opening game for this Cup. From then on,  Ancelotti's players will change cities when appropriate, evaluating the available travel options and considering the preparation times for each match.

Madrid's forecasts are starting to show results. Because by applying this method devised from the Valdebebas offices, the club would only have to make three trips... instead of the seven they would be forced to during the group stage.

This constant change of venue throughout the Club World Cup could bring instability to sports preparation. But it will allow the first team players to be rested and focused. All plans are designed so that the stay in the United States, during the month-long competition, is as comfortable as possible for the true protagonists.

In that strategic decision could lie the difference between victory or defeat in this competition so important for the future of the club. Because Madrid, like other participants, is playing for the chance to win a total of 111 million euros if they reach the final and win it.
