Arda Güler Has Made an Impressive Promise to His Grandfather, the Ceiling He Wants to Surpass

This season has shown some glimpses of the enormous quality Arda Güler possesses. The young Turk, who joined Real Madrid last summer, is still looking to establish himself in the team.  This has led him to make an important promise to his grandfather regarding his future with the white club.

"I'm going to be number one" were the words Güler directed to his grandfather, Mehmet Ali Güler. This shows the strong ambition the Turk has despite his young age. Seeking more playing time, Güler's intentions with Real Madrid are quite clear.

Despite the challenges he's faced since joining the Meringue team, Güler remains confident in becoming important. "He probably wants to surpass Ronaldo, Messi, etc. I think he'll achieve it," his grandfather added.

Güler's goal

At just 19 years old, Güler is one of the great promises in soccer today. Although his debut season with Real Madrid was plagued by injuries, his spirit wasn't broken at all. Playing 678 minutes this season, his importance to the team has increased significantly.

However, the promise he made to his grandfather demonstrates the ultimate goal he seeks to achieve with Real Madrid. With a contract until 2029, the Turk's future with the team seems secure. Still, several doubts have surrounded the possible fate that awaits Güler in the team.

Carlo Ancelotti, known for not giving much playing time to young players, still distrusts Güler. This has led to the origin of several rumors about a possible departure of the player from Real Madrid. Although this was denied by his own grandfather.
