Bad News from the Intercontinental Cup, Ancelotti Worried about a Player

Bellingham ended up with a sore thigh and went to the changing room to have the physios put a compression bandage on

The Intercontinental Cup final ended with an unexpected scare for Real Madrid. Jude Bellingham, one of the team's key players, suffered discomfort in his right quadriceps at the end of the game.

As the Real Madrid players celebrated on the field, with Rüdiger tackling and joking, Bellingham caught the eye by running off the field.

His departure was evident because it coincided when the stage was being set up to lift the trophy, and even Gianni Infantino was already entering the field with the cup in hand.

Conversation with medical services

Bellingham returned to the field shortly after, but not to celebrate. He headed straight to the team's medical services.

First, he spoke to a physiotherapist, to whom he told of his quadriceps discomfort. Then the head of medical services joined the conversation, and after a brief assessment, it was decided to bandage the affected area. The bandage was quite cumbersome, but Bellingham tried to conceal it by adjusting his trousers as he went on stage.

Although Bellingham took part in the celebrations, he did so with obvious caution. During the traditional jumps to chant “champions, champions,” he barely put any weight on his right leg. As could be seen in his conversation with the doctors, the player pointed to a specific area of the field where he apparently suffered the blow.

Vinícius reassures fans

In the post-match press conference, Vinícius was asked about Bellingham's situation. The Brazilian played down the incident: "Is Bellingham injured? No. I don't think it's anything serious."

These words have brought some calm to Real Madrid fans.

Although it doesn't appear to be a serious injury, the midfielder will undergo tests in Madrid to determine the extent of the problem.

This setback comes at a crucial time, as Real Madrid have an important league commitment against Sevilla this Sunday at 16:15, the last match of the year.

Ancelotti's concern

Carlo Ancelotti could not hide his concern after the match. “Jude is a key player for us, we hope it is nothing serious,” said the Italian coach.

Bellingham has been having a spectacular season, consolidating himself as one of the team's stars. Any absence, even if brief, could alter the club's plans at a crucial moment.

The next few days will be crucial to confirm whether Bellingham will be available or will need some time to recover.
