Karim Benzema has broken the silence. For the first time, the former Real Madrid forward has revealed the true reason for his departure. He did so in an interview with Edu Aguirre.

The Frenchman was clear. "Why am I going to Saudi Arabia? I wanted to leave at the top and I never wanted to play against Real Madrid", he confessed.

Benzema insisted on his love for the club. "Madrid is my home, my family. I couldn't imagine facing them", he stated.

The Frenchman had offers from Europe. However, he feared that at some point fate would pit him against the team of his life. Saudi Arabia offered him another option.
