Better than Haaland: they are asking for €70M and he's 'crazy' to join Real Madrid

Since his first day as Real Madrid's coach, Xabi Alonso made some requests to the board. One of the most notable was to sign a center forward for the upcoming season. Looking for a player with the profile and the same contributions as Joselu, the club has the opportunity to sign Viktor Gyökeres.

The Sporting CP striker finished one of the best seasons of his career. Fighting until the end for the Golden Boot, which Mbappé won, the Swedish forward is looking to leave his club this summer. By directly expressing his intentions to be part of another project, this has created a growing conflict between the player and Sporting.

Gyökeres and his agent are sticking to a gentleman's agreement made with the club that allowed the player to leave for €60 million. However, Sporting has kept firm with the €70 million it wants to get for the departure of its star player.

Gyökeres's struggle

At 27 years old, Vitko Gyökeres is one of the best forwards in all of Europe. In just his second season with Sporting, Gyökeres scored 54 goals and provided 13 assists. These are quite impressive numbers that show the great talent the Swede has for scoring, creating comparisons with Erling Haaland.

Although his contract with Sporting runs until 2028, the player has the door open to leave. Manchester United is one of the most interested teams in signing him, with its coach Ruben Amorim knowing Gyökeres perfectly well.

Even so, nothing has been confirmed yet regarding a deal that Real Madrid could carry out. The only drawback is that with the presence of Mbappé, Endrick, and the emergence of Gonzalo García, signing Gyökeres doesn't seem so necessary.

An important value

Although Real Madrid has made multi-million signings in the past, these have happened when the club needed to strengthen a position. The attack, of all the club's positions, is the one that needs to be strengthened the least due to the level of its forwards.
