Better than Álvarez and Guardiola Regrets More than Anyone His Transfer with Madrid
Guardiola regrets more than ever seeing him succeed outside City and is much better than Julián in every way
The decisions coaches make throughout their careers are extremely important, often influencing the development of professional soccer players. In this regard, many players might not be what they are today and wouldn't have been known if it weren't for a particular coach's intervention. However, it seems that, on this occasion, the one considered by many as the best, Guardiola, has made a mistake.
The Catalan doesn't seem to have recognized the great jewel he once had in his hands and let him go to Madrid.
We are referring to the young Moroccan Brahim Díaz, who has currently become one of the biggest stars of Real Madrid. This player went through Manchester City's youth academy, and instead of valuing him, he was let go and later replaced by Julián Álvarez.
The Argentine player eventually ended up at Atlético de Madrid, where he is having a good soccer moment. Nevertheless, Guardiola's regret for letting this young player go to the Meringue team has been a headache.
Brahim surpasses Julián
The Moroccan arrived after a rather interesting loan from Real Madrid to Milan, where he developed as a star of this team. Subsequently, at 24 years old, he returned to the white team in the summer of 2023 with hopes of playing a lot.
Based on talent and hard work, he managed to secure several important minutes, becoming one of Ancelotti's essentials. He was key in the white team's victories in the UEFA Champions League obtained last season.
Now, in this campaign, he has played over 1000 minutes in 24 matches, where he has been essential in all of them. While he hasn't established himself as an absolute starter, he has been a key piece for several matches of the season.
He has a long way to go at Madrid
At 25 years old, he's currently one of the most exciting players the white team has among its ranks and one of the most useful. Therefore, the mere thought that he came from a clear rival like Manchester City under Guardiola's guidance is a delight.
