The AZ Alkmaar midfielder is making waves as one of the most talented young players in Europe. Despite receiving some offers to leave the Dutch club,  Smit was caught on camera wearing a Real Madrid jersey. This was a clear gesture from the player toward the club, whose interest in him has grown over time.
