Cadena SER announces Rodri's stance on Real Madrid and the transfer rumors
The Spanish midfielder would be one of the main targets for the Merengue squad
One of Xabi Alonso's requests to the white club's top brass for the final weeks of the 2025 transfer window is the addition of a creative midfielder with a defensive profile. The search for Toni Kroos's heir is still underway... even though Arda Güler is starting to establish himself as a favored option for the Tolosa manager.
The experience in the Club World Cup has shown that the "15" still doesn't have enough composure to handle the pace of the match and the game. At least not against the best-positioned teams in the European soccer elite, as was seen during the semifinal match against PSG.

That's why the merengue coaching staff would have requested the addition of a midfielder with an identical profile to Toni Kroos. While it's true that there are several of those players based in the Premier League, the most recent reports point to a familiar face for the white squad: Rodrigo Hernández.
Manchester City's "16" has returned to the sky blue squad's sporting discipline after his long knee injury during the 24/25 season. While it's true that he has been a substitute for almost the entire cityzen team's run in the Club World Cup, Pep Guardiola wouldn't be willing to let him leave so easily.
No man's land
The supposed interest from Real Madrid in acquiring the footballing services of a player whose contract ends in the summer of 2027 hasn't gone unnoticed. Cadena SER would have asked some questions and conducted investigations to point out information that would radically change that hypothetical saga... still developing in the Valdebebas offices.
According to this radio station, Rodrigo Hernández would be willing to head to the Spanish capital if Real Madrid decides to acquire his services soon. These intentions from the Madrid-born holding midfielder aren't new: Ramón de Mon, recently, has pointed out that "he'd find it amusing" to wear the white jersey.

Rodrigo Hernández's willingness to play for Real Madrid in the coming seasons opens an important debate. Not only because of the need to secure a creative defensive midfielder: the age of Manchester City's "16", as well as his injury, raises quite a few questions.
That's why the executives led by Florentino Pérez would be waiting for some more reliable results regarding his sporting progress. The recovery from his serious knee injury seems to have gone as desired, but it's still too soon to make a decision... nobody in the merengue leadership wants to rush into a signing of the highest caliber.
