Carvajal already knows it, Xabi Alonso will decide if he'll start or if Trent will at the World Cup.

The coach from San Sebastián is clear about who his starting full-back will be at the World Cup

Real Madrid has strengthened for the Club World Cup with the arrival of Trent Alexander-Arnold and Dean Huijsen. The white team is thus improving a defensive line that had caused it so many problems during the season. In addition, at the same time, it is making it younger.

According to Cadena SER, Dani Carvajal will start this competition on the bench. It's no surprise, since he's still not 100% recovered from his tough injury. The Leganés native is in the United States and he's expected to get some minutes, especially in the group stage (fase de grupos).

However, Xabi Alonso doesn't want to take risks with the "2". He's aware that the season ahead is very long and that he'll probably need him at his best. For this reason, he'll choose to let him recover little by little and not push him unnecessarily.

In the end, this would mean taking risks for no reason. Trent Alexander-Arnold is one of the best in that position and even Jesús Fortea has traveled as well. Lucas Vázquez shouldn't be forgotten either.

Obviously, Madridists are eager to see Carvajal in action and running down the right wing as only he knows how. The best thing is to take it easy, without rushing, and with the assurance that the recovery timelines are being met as dictated by the club's medical staff.

He's motivated

Carvajal himself knows better than anyone that he can't rush things. He's had a really tough time and has made a great effort to be in his current situation. He already sees the light at the end of the tunnel and knows that he's getting closer to helping his team on the field.

During all these months, he's had to settle for supporting his teammates from the stands. Ancelotti allowed him, as is logical, to be close to the squad. The Italian is aware that he's a key figure and that he contributes not only on the field but also off it.

Meanwhile, Xabi Alonso will be able to count on him, but he wants to do so in a progressive and appropriate way.
