Carvajal's response to Alexander-Arnold, his role with Xabi Alonso: 'I'll play until...'
The return of Real Madrid's captain to the field is closer than ever
Together with Dean Huijsen and Víctor Muñoz, Dani Carvajal spoke to the media before the training session. Real Madrid keeps preparing for its match against Juventus in the round of 16 of the Club World Cup. Meanwhile, the right back from Leganés continues working to return to the squad list.
"You don't know the extent of things until you experience them. It's true that this happened to me at a more mature stage of my career, with my family, my wife. That has really relieved me, because otherwise I would've overthought it much more," said Dani Carvajal regarding his knee injury.

"Nine months have passed and I'm ready to compete. I know myself and I know that if they let me on the field, I'll give everything, without fear, at full throttle, and going in for every ball from the very first moment. What I will notice is the spark and the level of competition, because obviously you feel it after being out for so long," he explained.
He is willing to play in any position
When Dani Carvajal got injured, he barely had any competition on the right side, but the situation has completely changed. Now, the player knows that Trent Alexander-Arnold has arrived to cover his position for the coming years.
"On a professional level, it's logical: in every team and in every position, there are new people coming in. I take it as a personal challenge that I love to compete. Having important challenges ahead, and hopefully that competition, healthy, I repeat, will make the team much better," he said.

"Trent has adapted phenomenally, he's treated everyone fantastically. He had a lot of trust with Jude, but he's super friendly with everyone. When we've had a free afternoon, he's come out to walk, to have dinner, and the guy is really, really great," added Dani Carvajal.
Finally, the fullback also spoke about being the captain of Real Madrid. "Last year, I talked to one person and another, I asked 'how are you,' which is sometimes more important than shouting. This year, I'll be the first captain and that role becomes even more relevant," he concluded.
