Clos Gómez Explodes Against Mateu Lahoz and Puts on a Show on Cadena SER: 'He's a Meme'

Clos Gómez Attacked Mateu Lahoz and Talked About the Videos from Real Madrid TV

Refereeing has once again become a topic of debate, something that generally isn't a good sign. The group is going through a complicated stage due to some controversial decisions, which has cast doubt on their honorability and professionalism. In this context, Clos Gómez, a former referee and current head of VAR at the CTA, offered his perspective on "El Larguero" of the "Cadena SER".

Additionally, he didn't hesitate to criticize both Mateu Lahoz and Real Madrid Televisión. Regarding VAR, Clos Gómez explained that, although it was desired that this technology would reduce errors, those with experience in refereeing knew that, in reality, the controversy could multiply.

Clos Gómez's Direct Message to Mateu Lahoz

"I was his friend. Now he seems like a meme to me. All he does is criticize for the sake of criticizing, he's resentful with the CTA", he commented first.

"It's a shame, he was a great referee. We could call him 'special one' for everything he did, but the players understood him...", he explained.

"Right now he's in a process of defamation against the former president of the referees, Velasco Carballo, and the current one, Medina Cantalejo. And he doesn't hold a candle to them, especially as a person. (...) That someone with that resume hasn't been called by the RFEF, nor UEFA, nor FIFA...", he stated.

"He should take a look at himself. It hurts me a lot about Mateu, but when he leaves and they start lying blatantly...", Clos Gómez concluded.

Additionally, he also had words for the famous 'Negreira case'. "We are in the worst moment of Spanish refereeing, because of the 'Negreira case'. That a former referee who has been here, who knows the truth, that this man didn't matter...", he commented.

His Words Towards Real Madrid TV

Another of the topics Clos Gómez referred to in the aforementioned interview was the recurring videos of Real Madrid TV.

"I find them regrettable. It's a medium linked to a club. What they say isn't right", explained Clos Gómez.

"There are more club media that do it. Worse, I find that there are journalists who generate violence. I receive death threats every week", he highlighted.

"But the thug who chases someone in lower categories has been listening to those things. We need more respect for the figure of the referee. Someday something very serious will happen", concluded the current head of VAR.
