The CTA's confession that calls VAR into question: 'At least 20 goals...'

The surprising statements with which VAR has been portrayed by the CTA

Real Madrid's latest match, despite the victory, left several doubts due to the 3 goals that VAR disallowed. In response to this, and according to information from ABC, CTA made a surprising confession. "Last season, there were about twenty goals that would have been validated, or disallowed, depending on the image selected in the VOR room."

With these statements, it has become more than clear that VAR didn't do its best work in Real Madrid's match. Since it had several angles to analyze a play, VAR chose to make the minimum effort. This, as we know at Defensa Central, is one of the situations that bothered the team during last season.

By publishing a statement to express its discontent about this, the club also requested that changes be made. However, CTA's confession makes it clear that these changes simply haven't been carried out. Choosing only one image to decide whether to disallow a goal or not simply shouldn't be allowed.

The controversy with VAR

Created in 2016, VAR arrived in the world of soccer as a very useful tool for refereeing. With the goal of making the best possible decisions, VAR quickly became the norm in all competitions around the world. Unfortunately, VAR hasn't managed to eliminate refereeing controversies.

Real Madrid's match against Mallorca is a clear example of this, with the white club being harmed by VAR. Three disallowed goals, two for offsides and one for a handball by Güler, were the controversies of the match. The offsides, above all, sparked a lot of discussion due to the few images that VAR showed to justify its decision.

Even though Real Madrid secured the victory, the club was upset with the refereeing of the match. CTA's confession has only increased the controversy surrounding VAR. As ABC also revealed: "a single second is made up of 50 frames; so that the relevance of choosing one more or one less can be understood."

A situation that must not be repeated

After all this information, it is clear that VAR must do its job better in future matches. In addition, this situation has shown that Real Madrid was always right to demand changes with the refereeing. With this controversy taking place in the third matchday of LaLiga, the season is set to have more controversies than the previous one.
