Confirmed: Real Madrid will break the rules with Courtois
Despite being over thirty, Real Madrid would renew Courtois's contract for more years
Real Madrid has decided to firmly bet on keeping Thibaut Courtois. The white team has offered him a contract extension that would keep him between the posts at Santiago Bernabéu until June 2028. This is a decision that breaks with the club's usual policy, since for some time now, they have only renewed players over 30 years old year by year.
Currently, Thibaut Courtois has a contract until the summer of 2026. However, the Belgian has thoroughly convinced the management, both with his performance and his leadership in key moments. The club values his character, professionalism, and ability to provide security from the goal, especially at a time of generational renewal in the squad.

Since his arrival at Real Madrid in 2018 from Chelsea, Thibaut Courtois has become a club figure. He has surpassed 250 official matches (250), placing himself in the ranking of the 50 players with the most appearances in the history of the white team. In addition, if the goalkeeper keeps adding minutes, he could be among the top 15–20.
Real Madrid will break its policy with Courtois
Thibaut Courtois, at 33 years old, keeps showing an elite level that the club prefers to keep rather than look for young alternatives. In fact, Real Madrid paid close attention to Joan García, current Barça goalkeeper, but didn't end up getting involved in the operation.
In addition to his ability between the posts, Thibaut Courtois acts as an internal reference. His authority has been evident even in moments of tension inside the locker room, in which he has shown decisive leadership. As already seen in the Club World Cup, if he has something to say to his teammates, he does so without hesitation.
For all his stripes and for everything he has given the club, Real Madrid is considering "breaking" its renewal policy. "There is already a verbal agreement and the official announcement should arrive very soon. Although the player is over 30 years old, the club will extend his contract for more years", posted @nokai on his X account.

Everything will be finalized soon
The renewal is expected to be finalized in the coming months. If it happens, Thibaut Courtois would complete a decade defending Real Madrid's goal (2018–2028), something very few footballers have achieved.
At Real Madrid, they want to keep having one of the best goalkeepers in history between the posts. That's why Florentino Pérez's decision will be to renew his contract for two more years.
