Coto Matamoros responds to Siro López about Ancelotti's return to Real Madrid
Both panelists showed in DC their opposing opinions about the Reggiolo coach
Real Madrid's victory against Real Mallorca has left multiple angles for analysis and discussion. One of the most striking remains Carlo Ancelotti, whose position at Real Madrid is more than decided: he will leave the club when the current league ends. Everything indicates that his succession is in Xabi Alonso.
Siro López made it clear that the responsibility for what happened this season should be shared. The veteran journalist places up to "70%" of the "blame" for what happened during the current soccer season on the Reggiolo coach. But he also makes it clear that Santiago Bernabéu locker room and Florentino Pérez, who is in charge of the club's sports planning, share some blame for that irregular performance.

"What I do have clear is that the main person responsible for everything that has happened this year has been Carlo Ancelotti", states Siro López. Coto Matamoros didn't seem to agree and launched this response in the Defensa Central discussion: "they are ways of seeing it, of distributing responsibilities. What I'm getting at is that with the defense of Lucas Vázquez, Asencio, Tchouaméni, and Fran García, you can put there the one who invented soccer, it makes no difference to me".
The quality of the merengue defense used this season, according to Coto Matamoros, is one of the main weaknesses of the first team... to the point that not even the best coaches could fix the situation. "If you add to that the lack of commitment from the players, the lack of camaraderie, the lack of concentration they have shown all year, well...", he points out.
There doesn't seem to be an agreement
"Of course Ancelotti has responsibility, it can't be taken away from him, surely the most", points out Coto Matamoros. It is then when Siro López intervenes, noting that attitude is even more important... given that "with a worse defense" than the one mentioned by Coto Matamoros "they have created two goal chances against us, not much more".
Coto Matamoros, however, acknowledges that "I don't care if Ancelotti has 50% or 80%" of the responsibility for what happened this season at Real Madrid. "I think they have all failed, absolutely all. And it surprises me that you tell me that Ancelotti can be an advisor to Florentino", warns the television personality and panelist.

Because "if he hasn't paid attention to him even as the coach, well, I don't know", Coto Matamoros points out with a laugh. Siro López defends his idea, arguing that "I think he will return and I think Madrid will recover him". Carlo Ancelotti's future could be in "doing a Mologni, right?, that at given moments when a coach needs to be changed, Ancelotti can sit on the bench".
That idea seems to amuse Coto Matamoros, who concludes the debate with the following intervention: "let's hope he lasts many years in Brazil, because it's a golden retirement" for him. Thus, the position of Coto Matamoros and Siro López on a hypothetical Madrid future for Carlo Ancelotti is clear... beyond the coaching position.
