Unfortunate Joke by Cristóbal Soria after Barça's Thrashing to Real Madrid
The former delegate and commentator of "El Chiringuito" has taken advantage of his social media to mock Madrid's defeat
Cristóbal Soria has once again stirred controversy following Real Madrid's heavy defeat against FC Barcelona in the Spanish Supercopa final.
The former Sevilla delegate took advantage of the result to mock the team led by Carlo Ancelotti with a controversial joke on his X account (formerly Twitter).
"The curtain rises and on one side you see the players of Real Madrid and on the other the players of FC Barcelona... do you know what Ancelotti's players are doing...??? PEEING IN THEIR PANTS! 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣", Soria wrote on his profile.
The post quickly went viral, garnering thousands of interactions, both supportive and critical. Barcelona fans celebrated the comment, while Madrid fans called it "regrettable" and "disrespectful."
Context of the thrashing
FC Barcelona dominated Real Madrid in the final held in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. Despite the Whites taking the lead with a goal from Mbappé in the 5th minute, Barcelona made a strong comeback.
By halftime, the score already showed a commanding 1-4, with goals from Lamine Yamal, Lewandowski, Raphinha, and Álex Balde. In the second half, Raphinha scored the fifth goal for the blaugranas, and Rodrygo softened the result with a direct free-kick goal.
Soria's comment was criticized by many fans and journalists. Some pointed out that his words crossed the line of sports banter.
"Not everything goes in soccer. This type of comment only fuels toxic rivalry," a journalist wrote in reply to the joke.
Others, however, defended Soria's humorous tone. "It's just a joke, don't take it so seriously," a follower commented.
Soria, a regular in controversy
Cristóbal Soria is no stranger to controversies on social media, especially when it comes to Real Madrid. His comments often spark heated debates among fans of both teams.
With this joke, the former Sevilla delegate once again places himself at the center of controversy, reaffirming his role as one of the biggest critics of the white club.
