The detail that moved Manolo Lama at Modric's farewell: 'What I like the most'

The journalist applauded the farewell tribute to Modric and highlighted Real Sociedad's attitude, stopping the match to bid him farewell with a guard of honor

Luka Modric experienced an unforgettable farewell at Santiago Bernabéu, in what was his last league match with Real Madrid against Real Sociedad. The Croatian thus closed a magical thirteen-year chapter in which he became a true legend of the white club.

Emotion was present from the start. The stadium completely surrendered to the midfielder, who was a starter and received ovations every time he touched the ball. At every corner kick, Bernabéu chanted his name, while the chants of "Modric, Modric" echoed from the stands without rest.

An unforgettable tribute at Bernabéu

The most emotional moment came when Carlo Ancelotti decided to substitute him in the 86th minute. When the board with the number '10' was raised, the match came to a complete halt. Players from both teams formed a guard of honor in the center of the field, while the stadium stood up to give a standing ovation to the Croatian.

Modric greeted, one by one, his teammates, hugged Ancelotti, and headed to the tunnel, where Toni Kroos was waiting for him. There, a hug full of symbolism took place between two of the best midfielders in the club's history. It was the gesture that marked the end of a golden era in Chamartín.

With a composed face and visibly moved, Modric broke into tears when he met his wife and children, who were waiting for him at the edge of the field. An image that moved the entire Madridist fanbase.

Manolo Lama, moved: "This is a tribute"

During the broadcast of Tiempo de Juego, Manolo Lama was deeply moved by what was experienced in the stadium. "It's spectacular. Two men who have made history at Real Madrid embraced in the center of the field," he commented upon seeing the hug between Modric and Kroos.

However, there was one detail that particularly touched him: "And what I like the most, Paco, is that the match has stopped. This is a tribute," Lama added, highlighting how unusual it is to interrupt an official match for a farewell.

The image of Modric receiving the affection of his fans will remain forever in the memory of Madridism. It was, without a doubt, a farewell worthy of a legend.
