Van Dijk and Real Madrid: the Rumor Has an Unexpected Outcome

Virgil Van Dijk's name has been in Real Madrid's orbit. The Dutch player finishes his contract with Liverpool at the end of the current season and still hasn't renewed.  Arne Slot, his coach, is happy with what he's contributing, but so far he hasn't signed.

At the white club, for now, they are not considering making his transfer. This can be seen as something unexpected, given that he would arrive as a free agent and is a player who would strengthen the defense. This, after all, is the weakest position in Carlo Ancelotti's team.

Despite everything, Florentino Pérez is not focused on him. He is a player he knows well, as he has faced Madrid, but he is not inclined to acquire his services. The objectives are more focused on other players.

He wouldn't see it unfavorably

The most surprising thing is that the player's "yes" could be easily obtained. In fact, he already showed interest after the Liverpool - Real Madrid game that took place at Anfield less than two months ago. However, the institution's sports management is not entirely convinced.

The one who does seem likely to end up wearing white is Trent Alexander-Arnold. The English full-back, according to Diario MARCA,  has already informed his team that he wants to play at Santiago Bernabéu.

Thus, from January 1, he can sign for Real Madrid. It's a real market opportunity, and for many, there's no one better than him in his position. 

Barring a major surprise, everything indicates that in Valdebebas they have been quite quick to have this operation on track. The player will arrive in the Spanish capital and will share a locker room with his friend Jude Bellingham.
