They reveal Eder Militao's condition after tearing both cruciate ligaments: 'Mentally...'
Romario Queiroz, his personal trainer, has revealed that although he is not 100% physically, he is 100% mentally
Eder Militao is getting closer and closer to returning. After overcoming two torn cruciate ligaments in less than a year and a half, the Brazilian center-back is entering the final stretch of his recovery. He's already training partially with the group in Valdebebas and has been included in Real Madrid's squad for the Club World Cup in the United States.
Although he's not expected to get any minutes in the tournament, his presence is already a good sign. Militao wants to be at 100% for the start of the 2025-26 season, already under Xabi Alonso's orders.
It's been a tough road. Last season he only played a few matches, and in this campaign, when he seemed to be regaining his best form, he got injured again. First it was the left cruciate; then, the right one.

Despite the severity, his recovery times have been surprising. The first time he returned in less than seven months. This time, in just 195 days he was already working with the group.
Romario Queiroz, key in his recovery
Behind this progress is the work of Jaime Salom, the club's physiotherapist, and Romario Queiroz, his personal trainer. Queiroz has followed the process from Brazil, with constant visits to Madrid and daily contact with the club.
“It's been a pleasure to accompany him. Even though we're far away, I've always been present with tasks and constant guidance”, says Romario.
Regarding how Militao faced this second injury, he adds: “The first 24 hours were very tough. But the next day he surprised me. He told me: "I already know how this goes. Let's get to work”.
Romario also highlights the mental side of the process. “Sometimes we had to act almost like psychologists. After training sessions, we talked a lot. The most important thing was not to skip any steps. Everything had to be progressive”, he assures.

Physically ready, mentally stronger
Despite the history, Queiroz fully trusts Militao's return to the highest level: “He's very strong mentally. He's focused, determined, and very eager. It's possible for him to perform as before. All that's needed is patience and to follow the plan”.
The heavy match schedule is also a concern. “The calendar is brutal. The intensity has increased. There are fewer breaks and more injuries. It's a real problem”, he warns.
Militao isn't at one hundred percent yet. If anything is clear, it's that his return is getting closer and closer. He'll come back stronger than ever.
