The staggering amount PSG will have to pay for Raúl Asencio, the deal is almost done

One of the surprises Real Madrid had during the season was Raúl Asencio's performance. With the center-back starting the campaign as part of Castilla, his level in the first team exceeded all expectations.  Being part of the squad due to the center-back emergency, Asencio managed to establish himself in the first team.

Established as a center-back of great importance for Real Madrid, several clubs showed their interest in Asencio. PSG, above all, has been the club that has shown the most interest in acquiring Raúl Asencio's services. However, knowing the intentions of the Parisian club, Real Madrid has set a multimillion value on Asencio.

Being close to renewing his contract with Real Madrid, Raúl Asencio would have a release clause of one billion euros (€1,000,000,000). A value that PSG, if it really seeks to sign Asencio, will have to pay this very summer transfer window.

Asencio's important value

At 22 years old, Raúl Asencio has been one of the great revelations of the season. Having developed in Real Madrid's youth academy since 2017, Asencio has established himself as a top-level center-back. His impact at Real Madrid has been such that the club, thinking about the future of its defense, has been working on his renewal.

With his current contract running until 2026, Real Madrid intends to renew Asencio until 2031. Although PSG remains very interested in Asencio's transfer, Real Madrid has made sure to secure his stay for many years.

Besides the long-term contract, the value of €1,000,000,000 (one billion euros) makes it clear how important Asencio is for Real Madrid. Even though PSG has practically unlimited capital, paying this clause is something unlikely to happen.

PSG's only option

With the poor relationship between Real Madrid and PSG being kept, there aren't many expectations around the interest in Asencio. Unless PSG decides to break all the rules and pay Asencio's clause, the player will remain at Real Madrid.
