Fabrizio Romano announces a possible swap between Real Madrid and PSG
The Italian journalist reveals a surprise deal set to become a reality
Real Madrid completely stopped its transfer activity shortly after acquiring the services of Álvaro Carreras. The left-back brought in from Benfica was all the first team needed according to the top executives led by Florentino Pérez. Despite Xabi Alonso's requests, who desired a center-back and a creative midfielder, the squad was going to undergo few more changes.
One of the few changes planned from the Valdebebas offices involved the player who was permanently on the way out due to all the rumors. Because Rodrygo Goes had requested to leave the club, according to several sources, with multiple top European teams interested in signing him.

The information now published by Fabrizio Romano, two weeks after the close of this summer's transfer window, has revealed that the Madrid executives were indeed considering a departure. However, the team Rodrygo had a chance to join was completely removed from the Premier League: it was PSG.
After all, the rouge-et-bleu sporting management had identified Real Madrid's number "11" verdeamarelo as its top priority to strengthen Luis Enrique's squad in case of a departure. Bradley Barcola's continuity was in serious jeopardy and the Parisian executives wanted to bring in the Osasco striker as his replacement if the French player left for England.
Extremely difficult signing
Barcola's wishes to head to the Premier League ultimately weren't fulfilled, so the attempt to transfer Rodrygo from Real Madrid was abandoned. Despite the comments made by the Italian reporter, it remained to be seen what Real Madrid's reaction would be to that hypothetical approach from the French capital.
This was especially true given the icy institutional relationship that has linked both clubs for many years. The constant summer clashes over the "Mbappé case", as well as what happened during the 21/22 edition of the Champions League, have significantly strained the relationship between the two clubs... making the usual exchange of players nearly impossible.

The difficulty was such that, according to what we have learned at Defensa Central, PSG itself was one of the few "banned" teams from attempting to sign Rodrygo Goes during this summer. This situation could have changed as long as the South American player had received that approach from Paris to try to persuade him to switch clubs.
If Rodrygo had expressed his desire to leave Real Madrid for PSG, the board led by Florentino Pérez would have found itself in a dilemma. On one hand, there was the reluctance to strengthen a direct Champions League rival, with a nonexistent institutional relationship. On the other, the willingness to keep the promise to let the player leave for the club he desires as long as the financial offer is reasonable.
