FIFA introduces several new features to VAR ahead of Club World Cup, it's official
The Club World Cup will feature several innovations to improve the fan experience
After the Nations League, the next major event on the calendar will be the Club World Cup, whose edition will kick off next June 15. In this competition, Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid will be responsible for representing Spanish soccer.
United States, as the host country of the tournament, will welcome a total of 32 teams from different parts of the world in an unprecedented edition. For this event, FIFA has opted for innovation, incorporating new technologies with the goal of modernizing the competition.
What are the changes for the Club World Cup?
Paco González, director and host of the program "Tiempo de Juego", explained this Saturday during the broadcast the new features that will be introduced in the use of VAR during the Club World Cup.

"FIFA announces technological innovations. Referees are going to wear an integrated camera. It's also going to be used for VAR, even that camera," said Paco González.
"VAR images are going to be shown in the stadium, so that everyone knows what we're talking about," he explained.
"There will be semi-automatic offside, which should be different, because it uses a ball sensor, plus the cameras, plus artificial intelligence. Artificial intelligence, according to what I read, if the guy is clearly offside, it will call it directly. That is, it alerts, this one is offside, that's it, it doesn't even have to be reviewed," he added later.
FIFA wants to showcase the latest technology at the Club World Cup
Another innovation that will be implemented will be the use of tablets to manage substitutions. Each team will receive one of these touch screens before the start of the match, with which they will be able to request player changes digitally. The goal is to speed up the substitution process.

"These innovations show FIFA's commitment to the use of technology and the improvement of the overall soccer experience. We'll place special emphasis on increasing transparency and understanding of refereeing decisions," said former referee Pierluigi Collina.
It will be necessary to keep an eye on how the innovations that FIFA will implement work for a Club World Cup that promises to be exciting.
