First Movistar and now DAZN, Real Madrid kicks them out of the Bernabéu

Just a few hours before the match between Real Madrid and Mallorca is set to begin, an unexpected piece of news has been announced. Movistar and DAZN, responsible for broadcasting the matches, have been banned from Bernabéu by Real Madrid.  Instead, according to Defensa Central, the match will be broadcast by Real Madrid TV.

The reason the Merengue team made this decision was due to changes in LaLiga. In its fight against piracy, LaLiga has gone so far as to block several IP addresses that even affect legal websites. Faced with this situation, Real Madrid decided to act and designate Real Madrid TV as the only outlet through which matches can be viewed.

Although this measure will only be used for matches at Bernabéu, it remains an unexpected situation.  Movistar and DAZN, after this ban, will no longer provide the pre-match and post-match coverage they have offered for several seasons. Despite this, Real Madrid TV has proven to be a more than efficient outlet that has renewed itself over the years.

Real Madrid's ban

For several years, LaLiga has been making various changes to improve its broadcasts. While some innovations have been positive, the most recent ones have sparked much discussion. Real Madrid has shown its disagreement with the multiple licenses LaLiga grants to both Movistar and DAZN.

Because of this, the club hasn't hesitated for a moment to make this drastic decision. Although Movistar has regained LaLiga's production rights, Real Madrid hasn't changed its mind. Real Madrid TV will remain the only way the club's matches at Santiago Bernabéu can be viewed.

Although this change may seem radical, the reality is that Real Madrid has been preparing for some time. The addition of José Antonio Luque as a collaborator has been a major step forward. In addition, Real Madrid TV will be strengthened with exclusive content as the only outlet broadcasting the matches.

Position regarding LaLiga

With everything ready for the match against Mallorca, Real Madrid is just waiting for the opening whistle. LaLiga, for now, hasn't commented on the position Real Madrid has taken. Even so, the team is quite clear that if no significant changes are made, its decision will remain in place for upcoming matches.
