Florentino Could Make an Exception, Sign a 30-Year-Old Player for 2 Seasons
A Real Madrid Player Breaks the Rule and Could Renew for 2 Years Despite His Age
Real Madrid has an unwritten rule when it comes to renewing certain players' contracts. Florentino is clear that those who are over 30 years old are only offered one more season. This has been the case with Modric, Carvajal, or Lucas Vázquez on other occasions.
However, according to Sky Germany, Florentino might be willing to make an exception. This time, he could offer Rüdiger a renewal, bypassing that rule. This is something they are already considering in the offices to ensure his continuity.

Real Madrid waits until the last year of the contract to sit down and negotiate with their players. This would not be the case with Rüdiger since he is signed until 2026 and is already 32 years old. But Florentino might be thinking of offering him a couple more seasons according to the information coming from Germany.
This way, they would ensure the presence of the German center-back until 2028, when he would already be 35 years old. An exception that responds to the market situation, with few center-backs convincing in terms of quality-price ratio. Rüdiger continues to perform at a high level as he is proving.
A Change in Real Madrid That Didn't Happen in the Past
The fact that Rüdiger might be offered a 2-year contract is undoubtedly quite surprising. It must be remembered that this was what Sergio Ramos was asking for to renew. But he was only offered 1 and rejecting that initial offer ended up meaning his departure from Madrid.

However, the situation was a bit different, as at that time they did have an alternative solution. As soon as Ramos rejected the offer, Madrid moved to reach an agreement with Alaba. The Austrian was his replacement, so they didn't have as much urgency with the Spaniard.
Now, with Rüdiger, that wouldn't happen, as they don't see any alternative in the market that fully convinces them. It's true that they like center-backs like Huijsen or Saliba, but signing them won't be easy. That's why they think that Antonio's continuity, due to the good level he offers, might be the best solution.
