Florentino gives the OK, $45M and a generational signing for Madrid, official date
Power move to sign a highly sought-after player
Real Madrid wants to have the squad outlined for next season as soon as possible. It's true that they still have to play the Club World Cup in the coming weeks. However, the vast majority of the signings would already be practically secured if they're not official yet.
Dean Huijsen, Alexander Arnold, Álvaro Carreras... now Franco Mastantuono will join them. It seemed that PSG had taken the lead to secure his services this summer. However, Real Madrid has turned everything around to be one step away from his arrival.

The white team sent an expedition to Buenos Aires a few days ago to finalize the signing of Mastantuono. They have been negotiating with River Plate and the agreement for the transfer is very close. Mastantuono's signing for Real Madrid will be finalized at 45 million euros.
Right now, they're finalizing the details of the contract, which will be closed in the coming days. One of the discussions is how those 45 million of his clause will be paid. The Madridists don't want to do it all at once, but rather include some bonuses to be able to split it up.
A signing marked by betrayal and by the Club World Cup
Last summer, Real Madrid seemed to be very close to signing Franco Mastantuono. Solari and Juni Calafat met with him and his agents to learn about his intentions. Although they promised not to do so, they ended up renewing and raising his release clause by using the Madridist interest.

However, the Argentine player has kept firm despite the interest from other teams. He prefers to wait for Real Madrid's offer, which would have been decisive in bringing his signing closer. Although there has been another uncertainty that still hasn't been clarified and is key.
River Plate is also qualified to play this summer's Club World Cup in the United States. They wanted to keep Mastantuono for that event, but also until the end of the season in December. Although Real Madrid wanted him now, he'll join after the event, for 6 years until 2031.
