Florentino Has a Top Goalkeeper in Mind in Case Lunin Leaves, It's Not Joan García

The Goalkeeper Who Has Surpassed Joan García to Be Florentino Pérez's New Interest

One of the most secure positions that Real Madrid has is the goalkeeper. With Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin, Real Madrid doesn't have to worry about the present and future of their goal. At least that's what was thought, since Lunin's continuity at Madrid is a big question mark due to the interest of other clubs in him.

This led Florentino Pérez to look at other goalkeepers for the summer market. While Joan García had been placed as the big favorite, he has recently been surpassed by Kepa Arrizabalaga. After the good impression Kepa left last season at Real Madrid, Florentino Pérez would be delighted to have him back.

His excellent relationship with the locker room is also one of the reasons for Florentino's desire to have him back. Showing himself to be a goalkeeper committed to Real Madrid, his operation to return wouldn't be as complicated as Joan García's.

Florentino Pérez's Favorite

Arriving at Real Madrid after Courtois's serious injury, Kepa fulfilled what the club expected of him. Providing security to the goal from the first minute, Kepa was key until Lunin's emergence in the starting line-up. Relegated to the bench during the final phase of the season, Kepa continued supporting the team with constant advice and encouragement.

Although Kepa wanted to stay at Real Madrid for this season, his desire couldn't be possible. This led him to Bournemouth where he hasn't been having a bad season, playing 2,820 minutes and achieving 8 clean sheets.

Being one of the responsible for Bournemouth's decent season, Florentino has seen that Kepa still has a great level. Additionally, with his loan ending at the end of the season, Florentino would have a clear path to sign him given his situation at Chelsea.

Lunin's Replacement

Despite Lunin having already shown his quality on several occasions, his departure is getting closer due to the few minutes played. A situation that Florentino wouldn't oppose because it would give him more ease to have Kepa back.
