Florentino has told Xabi Alonso: 'There's a bomb with Konaté's signing'

The plan Florentino Pérez has devised to secure the signing of Ibrahima Konaté

One of the most desired center-backs by Real Madrid is Ibrahima Konaté. The Liverpool player is considered a necessary center-back by both Xabi Alonso and Florentino Pérez. In order to achieve this signing, according to what we know at Defensa Central, Real Madrid believes that if it raises the offer to €35-40 million, the signing could be finalized.

This is because, according to information from AS newspaper, Real Madrid offered €20-25 million for Konaté. An offer that was rejected by Liverpool, with its demands being €50 million. This is a high amount for a player who has refused to renew his contract with Liverpool on more than one occasion.

With his contract ending next summer, Real Madrid will try to sign Konaté in this transfer window. Xabi trusts Florentino's plan will work so that, in this way, he can have a necessary and talented center-back in the squad.

Interest in Konaté

Since 2021, Ibrahima Konaté has managed to shine as one of Liverpool's key players. At 26 years old, Konaté is considered one of the best center-backs in the Premier League today. Indispensable for both Jürgen Klopp and Arne Slot, Konaté's departure would be a significant loss for the "red" squad.

This is why, faced with Real Madrid's plan, Liverpool is looking to generate significant income from the Frenchman's departure.  In addition, with the recent departure of Trent Alexander-Arnold as a free agent, Liverpool wants to avoid a similar situation.

Although Real Madrid isn't willing to accept the value set by Liverpool, Florentino trusts an agreement will be reached. After the mistakes by Asencio and Rüdiger against PSG in the World Cup, Florentino and Xabi realized the need for another center-back.

Another great summer signing

Throughout this transfer window, Real Madrid has made nothing but excellent signings to strengthen key positions. While Huijsen has been a success, signing Konaté would provide vast experience to a backline that would return to its usual solidity.
