Florentino Pérez has made his decision, period, it's over with Álvaro Carreras.

Álvaro Carreras is the player Real Madrid would have chosen as its new signing for this summer. Although for many he's just one of several more signings to be made, it seems that's not the case. Jorge Picón explains it perfectly: "Real Madrid isn't closing the door to the market, but it's not working on any more moves beyond Carreras for this summer."

This way, it's clear that even though Carreras's move already seems practically done, that'll be all for now. While it doesn't completely rule out staying open to a market proposal, it won't be the priority.

"Only a departure or the appearance of an opportunity could change the script, but the squad is considered competitive enough." This is the phrase that ends Madridists' dreams of seeing any other move in the market.

Carreras and that'll be all

The signing of the Benfica player is a step forward in what many consider a necessary and demanded reinforcement. Although we don't know what the competition plan for the position will be, it's clear that his arrival is meant to raise the squad's level.

However, some believe that a possible departure of Ceballos and the imminent one of Luka Modric leave gaps in midfield. With that, a signing in this sector is imperative, but not so much for the board, which isn't entirely convinced.

For now, the only thing that could move the team would be a market opportunity, departures, or an injury that harms the plan. It's important to keep in mind that they have extremely tough matches in the Club World Cup, such as Dortmund and possibly PSG in the semifinals.

We'll see what happens

For now, everything points to this being the board's roadmap and, with it, targeting other areas of the squad differently. Maybe this could open a gap for the youth academy to shine. That way, its players will be ready for the first team under Xabi Alonso.
