"You're the protagonist of that endless run in search of the Eleventh Champions League at San Siro" said Florentino. He was referring to those tricks during the penalty shootout in the final in Milan. It was an iconic moment showing calmness while playing for the title against Atlético de Madrid.

"Today you conclude a stage that has made you one of the club's great legends. You're the sixth player with the most titles in Madrid's history" Florentino recalled. He wanted to point out that "you're taking with you a record that is already part of our club's history."

The president made clear in his words what Lucas Vázquez is as a player but also as a person. He is an essential homegrown player in Real Madrid's history, especially in its successes. Especially at a time when we are experiencing a winning streak with titles conquered.
