Four players, four decisions: Xabi Alonso must solve it now, Florentino waits

Real Madrid continues to prepare for the start of the new season. The white team will make its debut on August 19 in the first matchday of LaLiga against CA Osasuna at Santiago Bernabéu. 

In that match, neither Luka Modric, who is already in Milan, nor Lucas Vázquez, who said goodbye to Real Madrid last Thursday, will be present. However, there are also other footballers whose situation remains uncertain and that Xabi Alonso will have to solve soon. 

We're talking about players like Antonio Rüdiger, David Alaba, Dani Carvajal, or Thibaut Courtois. The Belgian goalkeeper will renew with Real Madrid soon, so his situation is more than solved. However, the other three footballers, who are already 30 years old or older, will have to extend their contracts year by year according to the policy set by the Madrid club.

Thibaut Courtois renews with Real Madrid

Regarding Thibaut Courtois, the Belgian goalkeeper reached an agreement with Real Madrid during the Club World Cup. Therefore, according to what "Defensa Central" has learned, the Belgian's continuity is already assured. So is Andriy Lunin's, who will continue guarding the white goal for one more season.

Although he had some offers, the Ukrainian has decided to stay with the whites, even though he knows his opportunities during the season will be few. Moreover, Xabi Alonso isn't one to rotate goalkeepers, so his presence in the Copa del Rey is also in doubt.

What about the other three names?

Regarding Antonio Rüdiger, the German is already 32 years old and his level in recent months has been poor. It's true that the German has played almost everything, but at Real Madrid they should start thinking about a replacement for a footballer who has raised doubts lately.

Another bizarre case is that of David Alaba, whose participation in the last two seasons has been very limited due to serious injuries. The Austrian, who is one of the highest earners in the squad, still doesn't have the level to play in important matches. At Real Madrid, they would have already offered him a way out, but the footballer wants to fulfill his contract and is fully entitled to do so.

Finally, the last case is Dani Carvajal, who will turn 34 in January, making him the oldest of the three. He went from being at his best to suffering a serious knee injury that kept him out all season. However, the man from Leganés will now be the first captain and is more than willing to fight for his spot against Trent Alexander-Arnold.
