Guardiola responds about Rodri: his signing for Real Madrid seen as a done deal

Guardiola responds regarding Rodri, his signing by Real Madrid seen as a done deal

In the search for a replacement for Toni Kroos, Real Madrid set its sights on Rodri months ago. The Manchester City player, despite his serious injury, is one of the best midfielders in the world. According to Defensa Central, in response to Real Madrid's interest, Josep Guardiola has made sure to rule out a possible sale of Rodri.

At least during this summer, neither Guardiola nor Manchester City are considering the Spaniard's departure. Since his arrival at the team in 2019, Rodri has been a pillar in Guardiola's schemes. Despite the rotations and changes the coach has made over the years, Rodri has kept his place as an irreplaceable player.

With a value of €110 million (about $119 million), according to Transfermarkt, his departure is impossible. Real Madrid, despite its great interest, isn't willing to pay that amount of money. That's why the club will probably wait for the right moment to go after Rodri's services.

The destination of next season

At 29 years old, Rodri has vast experience at the elite level of European soccer. Trained in Rayo Majadahonda's youth academy from 2006 to 2007, Rodri moved to Atlético's academy from 2007 to 2013. A year in which, after his time with Juvenil B, Rodri ended up joining Villarreal's academy, the club where he made his first-team debut in 2016.

Dazzling with his talent, Rodri was signed by Atlético in 2018, only to leave a year later for City. This entire odyssey was of great help to Rodri in his development. In what will be his 7th season at City, Rodri has managed to keep his high level.

Confirming his stay at the club, Real Madrid's interest hasn't been ruled out. The club, as in many operations in the past, will be patient with the Spaniard. Since he has a contract until 2027, next summer could see an offer from Real Madrid.

A signing that will have to wait

For this summer transfer window, Real Madrid will keep its distance from Rodri's situation. Only the sale of a player like Rodrygo could change the club's stance. With a value of €90 million (about $97 million), the sale of the Brazilian would give the club enough money to attempt Rodri's transfer.
