Guardiola's 'dig' at Madrid, They Had Just Been Thrashed and He Says This: 'this...'

Pep Guardiola believes Real Madrid isn't the top favorite to win the Champions League.

Challenging days are approaching for Pep Guardiola and his Manchester City. The Catalan coach is going through his most complex season in England since his debut year. With no chances in the Premier League and already eliminated from the Champions League before the round of 16.

Currently, the "cityzens" have as their only goal for now the FA Cup and the summer Club World Cup. Moreover, as if that weren't enough, the English team's coach had to endure once again the chants against him at the Santiago Bernabéu. The Madridist crowd had a great time witnessing another fall of Pep Guardiola in person.

A Manchester City Very Inferior to Real Madrid

Against Real Madrid, Manchester City showed that this season they are not up to competing with the greats. In the first leg, at the Etihad, during some moments, Pep Guardiola's team had a brief hope with Haaland's goals. However, the English team's defensive fragility allowed Carlo Ancelotti's team to return with a great advantage in the tie.

Already at the Bernabéu, there were no chances for Manchester City. Led by Mbappé, sublime with his hat-trick, the whites overwhelmed their opponent, completely lost and unable to stop the whites' fast-paced attacks.

Pep Guardiola and His Message to Real Madrid

After the match, Pep Guardiola appeared before the microphones of the rights-holding televisions. The Manchester City coach was full of praise for Real Madrid, but he also left some of his own "digs". The "cityzen" coach, once again, had to make a comment against the Madridist club.

"It's not just Mbappé. They have many players, it's a fantastic team (Real Madrid). Just congratulate them, they deserve to advance," explained Pep Guardiola initially.

"It's the first year we didn't have a good Champions... We have to accept it and fight to be here next season," he commented.

However, the moment came when he was asked if he saw Real Madrid winning the Champions. "Well, of course, they are a candidate, no doubt. But there are other very good teams and it will be an interesting Champions this season," he concluded.
