Güler isn't the only one: Mourinho demands the signing of a Real Madrid player

The standout Real Madrid footballer José Mourinho wants to strengthen Fenerbahçe

This summer transfer window hasn't seen as many departures from Real Madrid as was expected at first. Although some players still have chances to leave, José Mourinho has requested the transfer of a key player for the team. According to what we know at Defensa Central, Mourinho has requested the signing of Andriy Lunin.

In order to have a reliable goalkeeper, the Portuguese coach has seen the Ukrainian as the best option. Given Lunin's situation at Real Madrid, serving as Courtois's backup, Mourinho is looking to take advantage of this. However, Real Madrid isn't considering transferring or loaning Lunin because it counts on him as its second goalkeeper.

In the matches Courtois hasn't been able to play, Lunin has replied with outstanding performances. As a very reliable goalkeeper, Real Madrid isn't interested in letting him go. Still, if Lunin is tempted by Mourinho, the situation within the club could change.

Mourinho's desire

At 26 years old, Andriy Lunin managed to show his worth to Real Madrid in the 23/24 season. After Thibaut Courtois's serious injury, Lunin was the starting goalkeeper for most of the campaign. A role he took on without any problem, being essential to the club's successes through unbelievable saves and memorable performances.

Looking to have a bigger role, this was denied after Courtois's recovery. Although Lunin is looking to fight for the starting spot, Xabi Alonso made it clear the Belgian is undisputed. Even though Lunin has been patient with this, Mourinho's request could tempt him to leave.

This is because, although Fenerbahçe isn't at Real Madrid's level, Lunin will be the starter at the club. Being part of an interesting project under Mourinho's leadership sounds, at the very least, promising. Although Lunin has a contract until 2030 with Real Madrid, the goalkeeper himself can decide whether to stay or not.

Lunin's intentions

With little time left in this transfer window, Andriy Lunin must decide as soon as possible what he wants for his career. Being part of José Mourinho's project in Türkiye or keeping his place at a club where, despite being a backup, he has its trust.
