In recent days, the possible signing of Hugo Larsson by Real Madrid has started to gain momentum. Real Madrid are evaluating his performance at Eintracht at 21 years old. Despite his young age, they see him as having the qualities to lead Real Madrid's midfield in the long term.

The Swedish footballer would join a team that currently includes Turks, Argentinians, Belgians, and Austrians. Real Madrid are always known for recruiting the greatest talents in world soccer. However, it seems that they have had more trouble signing players from Scandinavian countries.

In fact, Hugo Larsson would be the second Swedish footballer ever to wear the merengue jersey in history. At least if we refer to the men's first soccer team. In the women's team or the basketball team there have been more cases, but not in this particular case.

It was Agne Simonsson, a forward who passed away in 2020 and who is the only precedent, many years ago. He arrived from Örgryte in 1960 and returned to the Swedish club in 1963, with a loan spell at Real Sociedad in between. He only played 3 matches for Real Madrid and managed to score a goal.

Saudi Arabia also wants him, but Real Madrid sees no danger

Real Madrid are closely monitoring Hugo Larsson with a view to a long-term signing. However, they're not the only ones, as he has also been linked to Saudi Arabia, specifically to Al-Ittihad. The Swedish player doesn't seem to be planning to move to that country.

In fact, he has been asked about it and Larsson has pointed to his mother as the reason why he won't leave. “My mother said: "No, no, no! You're not going to do that!"” he stated. He added that “she has her own dreams for me in Europe”, making it clear that he doesn't intend to leave.

Therefore, it seems that Real Madrid won't have much competition despite the huge amount of money being offered. “It was interesting to hear the offer and dream a little. The salary was extremely attractive, but I made the decision to stay", he confessed.
