Huijsen Reveals Why He Rejected Real Madrid and 'Asks' for a Second Chance

The Spanish center-back of Dutch origin sends a powerful message to the white club

Real Madrid, due to injuries that occurred during the last two seasons, has been forced to modify its roadmap for the summer 2025 market. The leaders led by Florentino Pérez now have as their main objective to complete the generational change in defense, the last area affected by this process that began seven years ago.

Consequently, one of the names that has resonated the most in the orbit of the merengue team is Dean Huijsen. The Spanish footballer of Dutch origin, on the occasion of his first draft with the Spanish national team, has given several interviews in which his possible merengue link is discussed.

The AFC Bournemouth center-back  doesn't 'hide' the interest that the white sports management had in acquiring his football services several years ago. The now cherry defender points out that "it was a very good option, but at that time I thought the best thing for me was to learn a bit about the defensive aspect". That learning stage before embarking on a project in the European football elite took him through several renowned clubs.

His experience at Juventus in Turin and AS Roma has served so that, under the tactical command of Andoni Iraola in England, he is configured as a great promise. His previous rejection of Real Madrid, at the same time, doesn't prevent the Malaga player from sending a message to the leaders led by Florentino Pérez.

Good Memory

The constant rumors about his arrival in Santiago Bernabéu locker room are splashed by these statements, in which Huijsen acknowledges having Sergio Ramos as a reference. The Camero center-back, still active in Mexico, "is my idol, he's a reference. For me, he's the best center-back in history", says the AFC Bournemouth footballer.

These kind words about the white legend bring him closer, albeit in terms of transfer market rumors, to Real Madrid. The white executives must evaluate, during the months leading up to the winter window, all available options to strengthen the axis of the merengue first team's defense.

In addition to Huijsen himself, the candidacy of top-level footballers like Castello Lukeba or William Saliba remains more than valid. Especially the options of this last center-back, currently an Arsenal footballer, due to the information published by several sports media in our country. Only the different economic conditions of both transfers, at least a priori, could definitively tip the balance.

Meanwhile, the white leadership deliberates to find the best option in the center-back market, Dean Huijsen doesn't want to lose the ground he would have gained in recent weeks. His draft with the Spanish national team, albeit due to Íñigo Martínez's injury, already centers the attention of Madridist scouts who are watching his performance and development.
