Real Madrid's Immediate Reaction after 'Losing' Alphonso Davies and Leny Yoro
The white executives have reviewed the latest transfers noted on Valdebebas offices' agenda
Real Madrid has suffered another major setback in its sports planning. After pursuing Alphonso Davies's transfer as a free agent for two years, the Canadian left winger has reportedly chosen to renew with Bayern Munich. The end of this transfer market soap opera has sparked certain criticisms toward the board led by Florentino Pérez.
Especially upon learning the details of the "case", in which Davies had requested a salary of 10 million euros, which his current club did offer after much reluctance. The offer made by the white club fell short by just two million euros, but they believed he would overlook the money if he truly wanted to come to Santiago Bernabéu.
This wasn't the case, causing a very difficult memory for some Madrid fans: the also fiasco of the "Yoro case". Failing to secure the contract of the now Manchester United player left Ancelotti's team starting the 24/25 season with a deficit in the central defense. Which the Reggiolo coach has reminded the leaders of the Madrid team on more than one occasion.
In this context, many expected a change in tactics in the elite European soccer transfer market after these two failures. However, the information published by Relevo points to the opposite. No changes in strategy or transfer policy managed by the white board are on the horizon.
Everything remains the same
In that sense, Real Madrid is clear about the "real" market value of each of the players it is interested in every summer. This vision was applied in both Davies's and Yoro's case, refusing to pay the transfer fee requested by Bayern Munich and LOSC Lille. The offer sent from the Valdebebas offices is always final, not subject to modifications, a warning that always reaches the players whose names appear on the list of potential signings.
Besides not engaging in any bidding regardless of the player they might sign, the leaders led by Florentino Pérez will continue to approach those who are close to becoming free agents. This disposition allows putting more pressure on the player's environment and the club, which could ultimately lose one of its first-team members "for free".
The "Yoro case" is the best example of that determination. Real Madrid offered 30 million euros for the former LOSC Lille player, who was out of contract with the French club in the 2025 summer. From the noble area of the Pierre-Mauroy stadium, they requested 50 million, an excessive price considering his association's short duration with the French entity.
Finally, Manchester United entered the operation with 63 million euros and secured the young prodigy's signing. Despite these failures, the hypothetical signing of Trent Alexander-Arnold from Liverpool demonstrates the effectiveness of the white club's strategies... which has decided to persist in the way it approaches the transfer market every summer.
