Javier Tebas confesses it, he wants Real Madrid eliminated from the World Cup as soon as possible.

The President of LaLiga intends for Real Madrid to start LaLiga on the weekend of August 17

Javier Tebas called for caution regarding the role that Real Madrid and Atlético de Madrid will have in the Club World Cup. The president of LaLiga spoke about a competition he described as "imposed" on national leagues. Although he appeared unconvinced by the possibility of delaying the start of the domestic championship, he assured that the established agreements will be respected.

"This is an example of what happens when things are done without agreeing with national competitions. We're the puppet, matches have to be changed because there's another competition that's been put on our calendar without our authorization and it harms our competition", said Javier Tebas.

Real Madrid and Atlético could start LaLiga later

AFE plans to discuss the calendar dates with LaLiga. In fact, it has already been requested that both clubs start the competition on August 24 if they reach the final stage of the Club World Cup. The request aims to guarantee compliance with the agreement that establishes a minimum of 21 consecutive days (21 days) of vacation for the players.

AFE, after keeping talks with the captains of Real Madrid and Atlético, has officially demanded from LaLiga that the debut of both teams in the domestic competition be postponed by one week. Considering that the Club World Cup final will be on July 13, the rest period would be minimal.

Meanwhile, Javier Tebas, who remains focused on his business, is clear that he doesn't want a first matchday without Real Madrid or Atlético. "This greatly harms audiovisual operators in Spain and the rest of the world", he said.

"Let's see how things develop. The collective agreement in Spain that we have with the unions is three weeks of vacation for the players and of course we're going to keep the agreement", added Javier Tebas.

When does LaLiga start?

LaLiga announced last week that both LaLiga EA Sports and LaLiga Hypermotion for the 2025/26 season will kick off on August 17. As for the conclusion, the top division will end on May 24, while Segunda will finish on the 31st of the same month.

If they reach the final of the Club World Cup, Real Madrid players would have hardly any days of rest. It's worth remembering that these footballers haven't finished a season that started in August 2024 and in which they've played more than 70 matches.
