Javier Tebas doesn't stop his hunt against Real Madrid: new attack

LaLiga President criticizes hosting an NFL game at Bernabéu while opposing Villarreal-Barça in Miami

Javier Tebas is back at it. LaLiga president has publicly defended the idea of taking an official match to Miami. In his statements, he left a message that many at Real Madrid interpret as a direct attack on the club.

"Then the NFL comes here and we're delighted. If the NBA came, we'd be even happier. It's just one match from our competition," Tebas said, comparing Spanish soccer with American leagues.

The match in Miami and the poisoned message

Tebas insists that the Villarreal-Barcelona match in December could be played in Florida. According to him, only the final approval from UEFA and FIFA is needed for the project to become official. "I'm convinced it'll be played in Miami," he stated emphatically.

The executive stressed that the clubs involved have given their approval and that the Spanish Federation hasn't raised any obstacles either. "We're not going to create problems ahead of time," he emphasized.

The reference to the NFL didn't go unnoticed. Santiago Bernabéu will host a game from the American league next year. For the club, Tebas's words are an obvious jab at its business model.

At Chamartín, they recall that the stadium is open to major international events. They see it as a source of extra income and a way to strengthen Real Madrid's brand globally. Tebas, however, presents it as a contrast to justify LaLiga playing outside Spain.

Criticism and another front with Real Madrid

Getafe president Ángel Torres had questioned the idea of exporting official matches. Tebas replied with irony, saying he has "a lot of affection" for him but that Spain can't fall behind other European leagues.

"In Italy or France, matches are already played abroad. The Spanish Super Cup also travels. I don't see the problem," he pointed out.

Besides the debate about Miami, Tebas took another jab at Real Madrid when talking about Franco Mastantuono's registration. He questioned the fact that the Argentine has a reserve team spot with the number 30 even though he won't play in Primera Federación.

With these statements, Tebas is reopening the tension with the club. At Bernabéu, they see it clearly: another episode in the long war between LaLiga president and Real Madrid.
