Didac Aguirre Jorge Mendes wants to take Lunin out of Real Madrid and offers Courtois's successor
The goalkeeper who has been offered to Real Madrid by Jorge Mendes to allow Andriy Lunin's departure
Looking ahead to next season, Real Madrid will have a completely renewed squad. While there are many positions that need to be improved at Real Madrid, the goal is not one of them. With Thibaut Courtois and Andriy Lunin, Real Madrid have secured both the present and future of a position that has always been a strength.
However, given the doubts surrounding Lunin regarding his future at Real Madrid, the club has received an interesting offer. Jorge Mendes, Lunin's agent, has offered Diogo Costa's signing to Real Madrid. This is due to Mendes's intention to arrange Lunin's departure from Real Madrid because of his lack of playing time.
Being one year younger than Lunin, at 25 (25 years old), Diogo Costa is one of the most solid goalkeepers in Europe. While Real Madrid have shown some interest in acquiring his services, the club still hasn't made any offer to sign Courtois's replacement.
Jorge Mendes's offer
In a season where Courtois suffered a serious injury, Andriy Lunin managed to replace the Belgian in an excellent way. Showing that he can be Real Madrid's starting goalkeeper, several clubs have set their sights on Lunin. Although Lunin ended up renewing his contract with Madrid, his future points to a departure due to his desire for a leading role.
Given this, Costa's option hasn't been poorly received by Real Madrid, who know they must have a replacement for Courtois. Even though Courtois remains the starting goalkeeper, his recent physical problems have raised some doubts within the team.
Although Diogo Costa's contract with Porto runs until 2027, Jorge Mendes has shown his intention to help Real Madrid. By keeping 19 clean sheets and conceding 45 goals, Costa has made it clear that he has the talent for Real Madrid.
Thibaut Courtois's replacement
Even knowing that goalkeepers usually retire at an advanced age, Real Madrid must start planning their future without Courtois. Although Lunin was the chosen one after his great performance, Diogo Costa has emerged as a more than solid option.
