Gonzalo has surprised everyone by starting in both of Real Madrid's matches at the Club World Cup. Xabi Alonso hasn't hesitated and in the absence of Mbappé and Endrick, has turned to him. He has replied with very good performances, in addition to scoring the goal against Al Hilal.
That makes many wonder what will happen with his future during the next season. Gonzalo has the level for more than just being a forward in the Primera RFEF, where he broke the goal-scoring record. Several clubs have already sent him their offers trying to secure his loan.
José Félix Díaz has been the one to update on how his situation stands, whether he will stay or leave. "Gonzalo is clear that he wants to play" the journalist has pointed out about what he thinks. That could be decisive considering he might look for another team after his breakout at the World Cup.
"Real Madrid doesn't seem willing to spend money on signing a forward" despite Xabi's request. So, it remains to be seen what Gonzalo himself decides, as he is the one who must decide. If he wants to get minutes, when Mbappé and Endrick return, they could push him to leave.

At Real Madrid, they will wait to see what decision Gonzalo makes about his future for this season. If he stays, they know they'll have him close to keep working on the potential he has shown. But if he leaves, he could do so as Miguel Gutiérrez or Nico Paz did, with the possibility of bringing him back.
